SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos baseball team came away with a series split as it won the finale game of its four-game California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) set at Chico State by a score of 5-2 on Sunday at Nettleton Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED •Chico took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on RBI singles by DeVito and Pineda.
•A sacrifice bunt by Cabot Van Til scored Diggs in the third inning and trimmed the deficit to 2-1.
•A two-run homer by Buck in the fifth gave CSUSM a 3-2 lead.
•A bases-loaded walk by Anthony Rodriguez and an RBI single by Andrew Cowell put the Cougars up 5-2 over the Wildcats in the seventh.
QUICK HITS •CSUSM improved to 16-22 (12-20 CCAA) while Chico dropped to 17-13 (13-12 CCAA).
•Lopez (3-2) earned the victory as he struck out two while allowing two runs on seven hits in seven innings.
•Reliever Garrett Apker earned his second save of the season by striking out two and allowing just one walk in the final two innings.
•Chico starter William Curless (2-2) took the loss after allowing three runs on five hits and four walks while striking out five in five innings.
•Diggs increased his reached-base streak to 21 games.
