On Wednesday May 5, the County of San Diego will Rescind and Vacate adoption of the 2018 McClellan-Palomar Airport Master Plan. This action is being taken in response to a legal challenge to the Master Plan’s EIR. The judge in the case found that a sufficient noise study was not conducted in Vista over the Shadowridge neighborhood.
The broader concern is that this could then lead the Board of Supervisors to rescind the entire “D3” plan that was previously approved. To refersh your memory, the “D3” plan is a signficant upgrade to our airport. It adds much needed safety measures, and extends the runway 10 feet so our airplanes can add more fuel to their load, which will allow them to travel to more destinations than just LAX, and Phoenix.
IT DOES NOT ALLOW FOR LARGER AIRPLANES TO COME TO CARLSBAD!
This airport will never become another John Wayne or Ontario airport.
We are looking for people to call in and express the importance of this airport and what these added upgrades will mean.
If you are able, please participate in the Supervisory meeting on Wednesday May 5. The meeting agenda is linked here for you (this is item #13). The instructions to participate via phone can be found here.
