SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Cal State San Marcos men’s basketball team (13-1, 9-1 CCAA) stayed in the top 10 of the Division II national rankings as the Cougars moved to No. 6 in the NABC Top 25 Coaches Poll while coming in at No. 9 in the D2SIDA Top 25 National Media Poll on Tuesday.

CSUSM defeated Cal Poly Pomona 62-52 in overtime on Thursday before suffering its first loss of the season to then-No. 5/10 Cal State San Bernardino in the Cougars’ third consecutive overtime game on Saturday. The loss snapped CSUSM’s 13-game winning streak – the second longest in program history.

Despite the defeat, CSUSM kept its position atop the CCAA standings with a .900 winning percentage and was voted No. 2 in the D2SIDA West Region Poll on Monday.

The Cougars are one of only five teams in Division II with one loss or fewer this season, joining Lubbock Christian (17-0), Nova Southeastern (16-0), UNC Pembroke (16-1) and Cal State San Bernardino (14-1).

With its three-game road trip out of the way, CSUSM will return to The Sports Center on Thursday to host San Francisco State at 7:30 p.m.
