CSU San Marcos Puts 48 on CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll

CHICO, Calif. – Cal State San Marcos Athletics placed 48 student-athletes on the 2022 CCAA Fall Academic Honor Roll, the conference announced on Thursday.
The CCAA recognizes individuals academically per season – fall, winter and spring – for all CCAA sponsored sports. Studentathlete must be of sophomore athletic standing or higher, and own a 3.3 cumulative GPA or better while competing in a Conferencesponsored sport in that season, to earn a place on the CCAA Academic Honor Roll. The CCAA Fall AllAcademic Team consists of eligible studentathletes who compete in the sports of men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball.

CSUSM’s 48 honorees were the second most in the CCAA, just one behind Chico State.

The CSUSM men’s soccer team led the department with 12 honor roll selections while women’s cross country and volleyball tallied 10.

Of the 48 Cougars to earn the honor, 15 were repeat winners. Micah Hebert and Kiora Ridgeway earned the honor for a fourth time while Trevor Boaz, Grace Handler, Jacob Johnston, Devyn Kelley, Ana Mercado, Luz Mercado, Sierra Moore, Corbin Thaete and Madison Turner each earned it for the third time.

In total, there were 454 fall sport student-athletes across the CCAA’s 12 member institutions honored for their efforts in the classroom.
