CSU San Marcos Remains Unbeaten at Home with Sweep Over Cal Poly

SAN MARCOS – The Cal State San Marcos volleyball team kept its home winning streak alive with a sweep over Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday night at The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED •The Cougars found themselves trailing 6-1 in the opening set but bounced back with a 12-1 run for a 13-7 lead. CSUSM snagged a 25-21 victory to take a 1-0 lead.
•In the second set, both teams traded leads early before Newcombe and Aguilar posted a pair of kills each to propel CSUSM up 14-10. The Broncos closed the gap to one point twice late, but CSUSM prevailed with a 25-23 second set win to take a 2-0 lead.
•It was all CSUSM in the third set as the Cougars posted a .429 attack percentage with 14 kills on 28 attempts and only two errors.

QUICK HITS •CSUSM improves to 8-5 overall and 2-2 in CCAA while the Broncos fall to 4-7, 2-2.
•The Cougars extended their home winning streak to six games, the longest season-opening streak in program history.
•CSUSM dominated in the kills category, tallying 45 to the Broncos’ 28.
•The Cougars held CPP’s Jazminn Parrish, who ranks fifth in the CCAA in kills per set (3.51), to only five kills.
•CSUSM posted its best hitting percentage of the season, recording a .306 clip with 45 kills on 98 attempts and making 15 errors.
