SAN MARCOS, Calif. – In its home opener, the Cal State San Marcos women’s soccer team came away with a 3-0 victory over NCAA Division III’s La Verne on Thursday evening at The Cage.

GOALS
CSUSM – 8′ Hannah Arcala (Assisted by Hannah Ramos)
CSUSM – 49′ Elin Hedstroem (Assisted by Hannah Ramos)
CSUSM – 55′ Chloe King (Unassisted)

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a battle in the middle of the box to begin the eighth minute, Ramos passed the ball to Arcala at the top of the box. Arcala proceeded to take a shot that went over the keeper’s head into the top left corner of the goal and put CSUSM up 1-0.
On a free kick from the left side in the 49th minute, Ramos received the ball in the box and made a quick pass to Hedstroem. Hedstroem took a shot from just right of the penalty kick marker into the bottom left side of the goal to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead.
In a quick CSUSM advance, King picked up an errant La Verne pass just in front of the goal. With the Leopards’ keeper down after the errant pass, King put the ball dead center into the back of the net from less than a yard out and gave CSUSM a 3-0 lead in the 55th minute.
