COURSE REPORT: The No. 15 Cal State San Marcos women’s golf team led wire-to-wire to capture its third tournament title of the season. The Cougars finished with an 18-over 594 on Tuesday in the DII West Region Preview held at The Club at La Costa in Carlsbad, California.

FIRST TEE •Senior Jaime Jacob took home runner-up honors after carding an even-par 72 in the final round. She finished the tournament with a 1-under 143.
•Sophomore Breann Horn followed Jacob, placing third place after firing back-to-back 73s to finish with a 2-over 146.
•Senior Savannah Magallon jumped 13 spots to take sixth place after carding an even-par 72 on Tuesday to finish with a 5-over 149.
•Junior Claire Hogle tied for 21st with a 12-over 156 (77-79).
•Senior Emily Lichty rounded out CSUSM’s scorers with an 18-over 162 to finish tied for 45th.
•Playing as individuals, freshmen Lauren Hickam (167) tied for 61st, Mia Hernandez (170) tied for 76th and Gilda Castellanos (175) placed 85th.

INSIDE THE SCORECARD •Magallon recorded her first top-10 finish of the fall season, placing sixth out of 88 golfers.
•CSUSM led the field in Par 5 scoring, finishing with a 4.73 average (-11) with Simon Fraser and St. Edward’s following with a 4.95 average (-2).
•Jacob and Horn went 1-2 in highest number of pars in the tournament, finishing with 28 and 26.
•Magallon tied for the second-highest number of birdies, tallying seven alongside Dallas Baptist’s Evelyn Arguelles. Individual medalist Emily Leung of Simon Fraser led the field with 11 birdies.
