CHICO, Calif. – Cal State San Marcos Athletics placed a conference-high 42 student-athletes on the 2022 CCAA Spring Academic Honor Roll.

The CCAA recognizes individuals academically per season – fall, winter and spring – for all CCAA sponsored sports. In order to earn CCAA Academic Honor Roll distinction, a student-athlete must be of sophomore athletic standing or higher, and own a 3.3 cumulative GPA or better while competing in a Conference-sponsored sport in that season. The CCAA Spring Academic Honor Roll consists of eligible student-athletes who compete in the sports of men’s and women’s golf, baseball, softball and men’s and women’s track & field.

The CSUSM baseball team paced the CCAA with 13 selections on the spring list – the second most of any spring roster and sport in the conference behind San Francisco State’s baseball squad who had 15 selections.

Of the 42 Cougars to earn the honor, CSUSM had a conference-high 25 repeat winners. Baseball’s Niko Diaz and Trevor Nakata of the men’s track & field team claimed the honor for the third time in their careers.

In total, there were 311 spring sport student-athletes across the CCAA’s 12 member institutions honored for their efforts in the classroom.
