A man is in custody on suspicion of attacking his parents in Vista.
It happened on Wednesday, August 2 just before 6:00 a.m. at a home in the 1300 block of Via Christina.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department received a call about a man who attacked his elderly parents. He reportedly choked his mother multiple times and punched his father in the face. The suspect then got on top of his father and choked him while covering his mouth to prevent him from breathing.
The suspect then broke into a neighbor’s house and attacked a small dog. He then got into a fight with the neighbor.
Deputies from the Vista Sheriff’s Station arrived on the scene and took Barry Knowlton (DOB 02/01/1974) into custody without incident. He was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on charges of attempted murder, felony elder abuse, burglary and cruelty to animals.
The elderly victims were treated at the scene for injuries to their neck and face. The neighbor was treated for a hand injury. The dog is also recovering from its injuries.

Maltrato a Personas Mayores – Vista
Sospechoso bajo arresto.
Un hombre está bajo custodia bajo sospecha de atacar a sus padres en Vista.
Ocurrió el Miércoles 2 de Agosto poco antes de las 6:00 a.m. en una casa en la cuadra 1300 de Via Christina.
El Departamento del Alguacil del Condado de San Diego recibió una llamada sobre un hombre que atacó a sus padres ancianos. Según los informes, estranguló a su madre varias veces y golpeó a su padre en la cara. Luego, el sospechoso se subió encima de su padre y lo estranguló mientras le cubría la boca para evitar que respirara.
Luego, el sospechoso irrumpió en la casa de un vecino y atacó a un perro pequeño. Luego se peleó con el vecino.
Agentes del Vista Sheriff’s Station llegaron a la escena y detuvieron a Barry Knowlton (fecha de nacimiento 02/01/1974) sin incidentes. Fue registrado en el Centro de Detención de Vista por cargos de intento de asesinato, abuso de ancianos, robo y crueldad hacia los animales.
Las víctimas de edad avanzada fueron atendidas en el lugar por lesiones en el cuello y la cara. El vecino fue atendido por una lesión en la mano. El perro también se está recuperando de sus heridas.
