ESCONDIDO — As the Escondido Creek Conservancy celebrates its 35th anniversary, the nonprofit is launching its most ambitious fundraising campaign yet, a $1 million dollar-for-dollar match to protect and expand local habitats.
The conservancy, which now owns 3,500 acres across the Escondido watershed, received the matching donation from an anonymous benefactor and is determined to maximize the opportunity, said Sheri Lees, the conservancy’s marketing director. Lees and Executive Director Ann Van Leer hope the campaign will broaden community engagement and donor support over the next year.
