On June 7, students from the Children’s Montessori School received a tour of Fire Station number 4 on Bear Valley Parkway. The first through third grade schoolers were shown around the station and received a fire safety talk presented by the on-duty crew. A fun time was had by all.
Retirement and Promotion
After 28 years with the Escondido Fire Department, Division Chief Art Holcomb is retiring July 11. Chief Holcomb joined the Escondido Fire Department as a Firefighter Paramedic in February of 1996, promoted to Engineer in 2003 and promoted to Captain in 2005. Chief Holcomb then promoted to Battalion Chief in 2016 and then to Division Chief in 2018. As Division Chief has been responsible for the administration of the Health and Safety, EMS, and Training and programs. Many thanks to Chief Holcomb for his many years of dedicated service to the Escondido Fire Department.
Battalion Chief Tyler Batson has been promoted to Division Chief. Chief Batson began his career with the Escondido Fire Department as a Firefighter Paramedic in 2003. Tyler promoted to Engineer in 2011, he was then promoted to Captain in 2015. In 2020, Tyler was promoted to Battalion Chief. Chief Batson holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Stanford University and his Chief Officer Certification from the California State Fire Marshal’s Office. Best of luck to Chief Batson in his new role.
