On Wednesday, November 9, firefighters from Fire Station #1 were invited to a community event hosted at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary. Their 125th year event included food trucks, a live band, games and inflatable jumps for the kids. Children and their families were invited to tour the fire engine, learn how things work, try on some gear and meet the firefighters.
On Thursday, November 10, the Escondido Police and Fire Communication Center received a report of a vegetation fire at 1179 W Washington Ave, near JW Redwood. Firefighters found a small fire located on the embankment of southbound 1-15. Due to the location and fencing, access was a challenge. No structures were threatened or damaged and there were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. CHP detained a person from a nearby encampment who was suspected of starting the fire. The fire’s cause and origin are being investigated by Escondido Police Department Arson unit and Fire Department Investigators.
Also, on November 10, on duty firefighters enjoyed the Escondido City “Grateful for You” employee appreciation event. A few crews were able to make it to City Hall, but many were not due to emergency calls and other commitments. However, Lori Pike delivered a pie to each fire station, which was very much appreciated!
On Friday, November 11, several crews from Fire Station #1 and #7 attended and participated in Escondido’s Vet Fest 2022. Escondido Fire was proud to be guests in the parade and honor all Veterans. The Police and Fire Honor Guard also participated.
