Escondido Fire Department Updates

On February 10, the Escondido Police and Fire Communication Center received a report of smoke coming from a home located in the unincorporated county area at 2811 Paseo Del Sol. The home was reported to be vacant. A smoke column was seen from a distance and a working structure fire upgrade was requested. The first arriving Captain reported a small unoccupied home with smoke and fire coming from the roof. Firefighters confirmed there were no occupants present at the home and they contained the fire in approximately 21 minutes. Fire units remained on scene for about two hours conducting overhaul to ensure that the fire was completely extinguished. SDG&E was requested to secure the electrical service to the vacant property. Four fire engines, one ladder truck, one rescue ambulance, one Chief Officer, and the
Deputy Fire Marshal responded to the fire. Assistance was provided by San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputies. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians during the incident.

On, February 11, the Escondido Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to Palomar Hospital Downtown, 555 E Valley Pkwy, for a report of a vehicle accident. Upon arrival Firefighters found a large dump truck on its side. It appeared the truck drove off an elevated roadway, landed on the driveway below and damaged two parked vehicles. The driver sustained multiple injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
