On October 12, Escondido Fire took possession of a Type 6 Brush Patrol Engine from the California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES). Cal OES provides certain apparatus to local Fire Departments to use for day-to-day service. When large incidents, such as wildfires happen, Cal OES requests that the host agencies staff and send the State-owned vehicles to assist. In addition to the new Type 6 Brush Patrol Engine, Escondido Fire also hosts a Cal OES Type 3 Brush Engine.
