Escondido, CA – March 28, 2024 – The California Center for the Arts, Escondido Foundation is pleased to announce an open call for submissions for its upcoming museum exhibition. Open to undergraduate and graduate students working across all art disciplines and in any media throughout San Diego County, Tijuana, and the wider Southern California region. The deadline for submissions is April 22, 2024.
The Foundation invites participation from students currently enrolled in college and university programs throughout San Diego County and the surrounding region. The exhibition seeks to celebrate the everyday magic found within the artistic practices of regional college-level students across all media and disciplines. Participants are tasked with responding to art assignments crafted by regional artists and educators. Assignments encourage students to explore various themes, including the exploration of cross-border collaborations, utilization of unconventional spaces, envisioning the future, prioritizing functional design, promoting placemaking, inclusive choreography, and more. Each assignment serves as a catalyst for artistic exploration and seeks to build empathy and a collaborative framework for students. The exhibition will open to the public on June 1 and run through August 17.
Submissions for the exhibition are currently being accepted, with a deadline of April 22, 2024. For priority consideration for mural projects, applicants are asked to submit proposals by Friday, March 15, 2024 via email to museum@artcenter.org. Interested students are encouraged to find detailed submission guidelines and instructions on the California Center for the Arts, Escondido website.
