When Escondido resident Eli Zamora was getting ready to turn 9 years old, his mother Monica was looking for something special. Eli is autistic and he is fascinated with the police, trash trucks, and other city functions. Officers from the Escondido Police, CHP, and drivers from Escondido Disposal rallied together to help Eli celebrate a birthday he will never forget.

On June 18, officers conducted a DUI Checkpoint at Valley Pkwy and Avenida Del Diablo. The results are as follows:
644 Vehicles were screened through the checkpoint
3 Alcohol/DUI Arrests
10 Traffic Citations were issued for unlicensed driver or suspended license
