This past week, the Escondido Police Department put two more officers out on the streets. Officers Tristen Smith and Jared Gonzales graduated the 133rd San Diego Regional Public Safety Training Institute at Miramar College. Officer Smith won the “top shot” award of the academy, which is awarded to the officer that performs the best in firearms training. The academy is an intensive Monday-Friday, 8 hours a day, 24 weeks of lectures, physical conditioning, and technical skills training that are trained and then tested. Congratulations to our two new officers, and to their families who supported them through their journey so far. Welcome to the Escondido team. Both officers will begin field training next week.
