Congratulations!
The 128th San Diego Regional Public Safety Training Academy began on July 26, 2021. On February 10, Hector Navarro (third from the left) and Kevin Garcia (fourth from the left) graduated from the Academy.

Stabbing
On February 5, officers respond to a call regarding a stabbing that occurred in front of Rally’s on E. Valley Parkway. When the officers arrived, they located an adult male with a stab wound to his abdomen. The victim was able to provide a suspect description before being transported to the hospital. A second adult male was also stabbed and had multiple stab wounds to his torso. The suspect was found and detained and had a knife in his possession. The suspect admitted to stabbing both victims during a post-Miranda interview.

5150 Hold
On February 7, officers responded to an individual who was threating to shoot himself in the head. The former Navy Corpsman has been suffering increasing mental health issues. He also has had friends who have recently committed suicide. The man left the scene prior to the officers’ arrival but later showed up at the front lobby at the Police Department. He was detained and taken to Palomar Medical Center on a 5150, emergency 72-hour hold.

Carjacking
On February 10, a woman was parking her vehicle and noticed a car behind her. When she started walking towards her apartment door, a black male adult, ran up behind her with a black handgun and demanded her keys. The suspect fled in the woman’s vehicle. The victim’s vehicle had LOJACK and was recovered. The carjacking suspect was wanted for other robberies and carjacking cases in San Diego and was taken into custody over the weekend.
