Felony Theft

On June 12, officers went to a radio call about someone who had stolen items from a local business. The officers found the suspect leaving in his car and stopped him. When they searched his car, the officers found a large amount of stolen property from 3-5 different stores. There was over $5,000 worth of property located.

Busy Night

On July 16, the Escondido Police Department had a busy night. They were assisted by San Diego Sheriffs and California Highway Patrol on some potentially dangerous calls. These included a possible man with a rifle, gunshots being heard, another man with a handgun and a rifle, and finally a man with a gun in one of our eateries. Luckily, all those calls were resolved without any issues. When the officers got to talk to the people that called and the witnesses in the area, most of the calls were completely unfounded. Officers were able to make one arrest that night of a man who unlawfully had an unserialized handgun, but fortunately it was determined that he merely had it and had not committed any other crimes.

PAL Fishing Trip

On June 17, Escondido PAL took 20 kids from the Achievement Center on an ocean fishing trip out of Oceanside Harbor. Staff from the Achievement Center and retired City employee Jim Miller assisted on the trip. The sea was pretty rough that day and several of the kids and staff got seasick. Despite all the sea sickness, it was a great trip! The group managed to catch several seabass, and everyone had a great time.
