Escondido’s Fire Department Updates

On September 11, 2023, Deputy Fire Chief, Jeff Sargis, and Battalion Chief, Brian Salazar, were honored to participate in a special gathering put on by Heritage Middle School. Sargis & Salazar took time to explain how the 9/11 incident affected firefighters, from all over the world. Escondido Mayor, Dane White, and Escondido Police, Captain Toth were also in attendance sharing their experiences. Both children and teachers stated their gratitude and appreciation for the visit. Being able to speak with these children was a special moment for all involved.

On September 15, Rescue Ambulance (Paramedics) Fire crews participated in Palomar Medical Center’s Middle School Career Day. Students attending were able to see and experience how patient care is provided, from First Responders arrival, care at the scene and from Hospital staff after they arrive. The event was a success in that students left knowing the type of care that goes into helping someone in need.
