On Thursday, May 30, Fire Inspector’s, Taylor and Vasquez, had the honor of attending the 2024 Fire Safe Council Volunteer Awards. Gregg Oliver and Denise Rolen, of the Fire Safe Council (FSC) of Southwest (SW) Escondido, were awarded a 12,000 SAFE Grant by the San Diego Regional Fire Foundation. A portion of the grant money will be utilized in both the Terracina II and Oakstone neighborhoods to help with vegetation management. In addition, the SW Escondido FSC will hold a Wildfire Safety Fair in the near future.

To Honor those who served
On Memorial Day, the Escondido Fire Department’s Honor Guard participated in Memorial Day services that were held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall. This opportunity was a true honor for our crew and we were thankful for the chance to be part of this special service.

Vehicle Fire
On June 1, Fire crews from Station 5 and 6 were dispatched to a report of a vehicle fire on SB I15 at Pomerado. Upon arrival, crews discovered the fire extended into the brush. Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the fire before it spread further. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were sustained.
