Escondido Police Dept. Forensic Services Unit (FSU) , aka the Crime Lab, is responsible for all the crime scene and fingerprint work at EPD. Over the course of the last year, Forensic Services Unit has worked to upgrade and improve policy and processes within the unit in anticipation of being accredited by A2LA. In September, FSU successfully passed the rigorous audit process.
FSU is the first organization in the U.S. to achieve A2LA accreditation for crime scene and latent prints.
This accreditation means FSU provides a high quality of service consistent with international standards as governed under ISO 17020. A2LA is an international third party accreditation body for laboratories, including forensic units.
