On July 24, members of the police department participated in the annual remembrance ceremony for EPD Officer Laura on the tenth anniversary of her death. Officer Laura, a phenomenal rookie officer was destined for an exceptional life and career with the department, was tragically murdered by her then husband on July 23, 2014. She left behind a young daughter whom the department has continued to hold dear and support in every way we can. As with every year since, the ceremony was attended by Laura’s mother, sister and her daughter, Suzeth, who we are all amazed at how much she has grown and continued on the exceptional trajectory of her mother in her own right.
One of the most coveted awards and recognition at the department’s annual awards ceremony is the “Officer Laura Award” this award is given in her memory to our “Rookie of the Year” who embodies all the characteristics and unwavering dedication to duty and service that Laura exemplified. Laura’s light continues to shine brightly on the department and community and we
miss her dearly
