(Oceanside, CA – September 3, 2020): “You cannot run a clean city until you get rid of the rot” says Fabio Marchi, real estate developer and candidate for mayor of Oceanside. “We will finally dismantle the good old boys club culture which has permeated the city for so long”.
As for donations, Fabio admonishes: “Do not even think about donating money to my mayoral campaign believing that you can buy me, because I will not be beholden to any large donors while in office. No more ‘pay to play’ when I am mayor.”
Having grown up in Argentina under dictatorship, Fabio’s mantra is to go back to the basics, to the true meaning of public servant. “My office will be an open door, accessible to all Oceanside citizens. We will finally have transparency – no more closed to public meetings.”
As a fiscal conservative, Fabio believes government must be efficient and accountable. Once in office, he says he “will review all prior city contracts to trim wasteful spending. “All high ranking city officials”, according to Fabio, “make way too much money now so they will be gone.”
With the savings generated, Fabio plans to “hire an in house crew to improve and modernize our infrastructure including repairing and building roads, walkways and ADA compliant paths, new bike lanes and electric charging stations, recycling water systems, traffic lights and public lighting. We must change all obsolete asbestos pipes in our drinking water lines.”
“We will restructure all city departments, revitalize parks and recreation , housing and social services to help elderly, and eradicate homelessness.”
As an Oceanside builder having struggled through “the myriad steps of a building process gone haywire”, Fabio is committed to simplifying and streamlining the permitting process: “Simple room additions and ADUs will be permitted in one day” he promises. ” City employees will be friendly and helpful – there will be no more ‘City v. applicant’ attitude. Not on my watch!”
Fabio is dedicated to increasing housing for Oceanside citizens and reducing taxes to welcome new business: “The last thing in the world we want to do is make it difficult to build and thrive in our beautiful city.”
City council meetings, which have long been contentious, will be “civic celebrations not ugly fights. We will engage with our fellow Oceanside citizens in a positive, welcoming manner.”
“And we will finally bring back sand to our beaches. Oceanside is one of the best places in the world, let us enjoy it.”
