On May 13, 2023, at approximately 11:25 p.m., Sheriff’s Deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Vista Station, Traffic Division and Vista Fire Department personnel responded to a single vehicle traffic collision on N. Melrose Drive near the intersection of Tatum Street.
Based on the preliminary investigation, a black Mercedes-Benz sedan driving southbound on N. Melrose Drive veered off the west side of the roadway for unknown reasons and crashed into a utility pole. The solo male driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
The Vista Traffic Division is handling the investigation.
