On January 18, 2024, at 7:43 PM, deputies responded to a report of a vehicle collision at the intersection of West Mission Road and North Las Posas Road in the city of San Marcos.
A 66-year-old female was walking northbound through the crosswalk near the Palomar Sprinter Station, when she was struck by a grey Toyota Tacoma. The truck was driven by a 61-year-old male who was heading westbound in the 1100 block of West Mission Road, when the collision occurred.
The driver of the Toyota Tacoma stopped his truck and contacted law enforcement. A witness driving by noticed the incident, stopping to performed life-saving measures on the pedestrian. San Marcos Fire and Paramedics also arrived on scene and advised the pedestrian had succumbed to her injuries.
The Medical Examiner’s office responded to the scene. They will determine the cause of death, identify the female, and notify her family.
Drugs, speed nor alcohol are suspected to be a contributing factor in the traffic collision.

El 18 de enero de 2024, a las 7:43 p. m., los agentes respondieron a un informe de una colisión de vehÃculos en la intersección de West Mission Road y North Las Posas Road en la ciudad de San Marcos.
Una mujer de 66 años caminaba hacia el norte por el cruce peatonal cerca de la estación Palomar Sprinter, cuando fue atropellada por una Toyota Tacoma gris. El camión era conducido por un hombre de 61 años que se dirigÃa hacia el oeste en la cuadra 1100 de West Mission Road, cuando ocurrió la colisión.
El conductor de la Toyota Tacoma detuvo su camioneta y se puso en contacto con la policÃa. Un testigo que pasaba por el lugar se percató del incidente y se detuvo para realizar medidas para salvar la vida del peatón. Los bomberos y paramédicos de San Marcos también llegaron a la escena e informaron que la peatona habÃa sucumbido a sus heridas.
La oficina del médico forense acudió a la escena. Determinarán la causa de la muerte, identificarán a la mujer y notificarán a su familia.
Se sospecha que las drogas, la velocidad o el alcohol son un factor que contribuye a la colisión de tráfico.
