Fatal Traffic Collision
CARLSBAD, Calif. — On July 7, 2018 at 12:15 p.m., Officers from the Carlsbad Police Department responded to the 6500 block of northbound Carlsbad Blvd regarding a report of a motorcycle serious injury collision. Upon arrival, Officers found three motorcycles with extensive damage lying in the roadway. All three motorcycle riders suffered serious injuries and were transported by the Fire Department to local area hospitals. One of the motorcycle riders was ultimately pronounced deceased at the hospital after sustaining fatal injuries as a result of the collision.
The driver pronounced deceased was identified as a 24 year-old male from Vista. The two other motorcycle riders transported for their injuries, were identified as a 21 year-old male and a 49 year-old male from Vista.
The investigation into the cause of the collision is underway. Northbound Carlsbad Blvd from Breakwater Rd. to Solamar Dr. has been closed during the investigation.
