On Saturday, May 3, 2025, at approximately 6:01 p.m. deputies with the Vista Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a collision involving a solo vehicle that occurred near the intersection of N. Santa Fe and N. Paseo Marguerita, in the City of Vista.
Preliminary information indicates the 30-year-old driver failed to negotiate a right turn in his sedan and collided with a tree near the intersection. The driver exited the vehicle and fled the scene.
At approximately 7:16 p.m. deputies responded to the 200 block of Apollo Drive, in the City of Vista for an unconscious person. Deputies confirmed the person was the driver of the sedan. Tragically, the person succumbed to their injuries.
Vista Sheriff’s Station Traffic Investigators and the Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating the crash’s cause.
It is unknown if the use of alcohol or drugs is a factor in this ongoing investigation.

Un hombre murió tras un accidente automovilístico.
El sábado 3 de mayo de 2025, aproximadamente a las 6:01 p.m., los agentes de la Estación del Sheriff de Vista respondieron a un informe de una colisión que involucró a un vehículo solitario que ocurrió cerca de la intersección de N. Santa Fe y N. Paseo Marguerita, en la ciudad de Vista.
La información preliminar indica que el conductor de 30 años no pudo negociar un giro a la derecha en su sedán y chocó con un árbol cerca de la intersección. El conductor salió del vehículo y huyó de la escena.
Aproximadamente a las 7:16 p.m., los agentes respondieron a la cuadra 200 de Apollo Drive, en la ciudad de Vista por una persona inconsciente. Los agentes confirmaron que la persona era el conductor del sedán. Trágicamente, la persona sucumbió a sus heridas.
La causa del accidente está siendo investigada por los investigadores de tráfico de la estación del sheriff de Vista y la Oficina del Médico Forense.
Se desconoce si el uso de alcohol o drogas es un factor en esta investigación en curso.
