OCEANSIDE, CA — On Sunday, March 1st, 2026, at approximately 11:50 pm, the Oceanside Police Department responded to a call of a major injury collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian near the intersection of SR-76 and Benet Rd. This collision occurred when a white Toyota Corolla heading eastbound on SR-76 collided with a pedestrian who was believed to be crossing the highway from south to north just east of the intersection. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was cooperative with law enforcement. The driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The identity of the deceased pedestrian is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin. The Oceanside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team conducted the
