This marks the sixth year the Vista Chamber of Commerce has sponsored the Rising Star Program. Each month during the school year six students are nominated from six Vista High Schools to speak at the Rising Star Breakfast hosted at North County Trade Tech High School The Mission Statement of the Chamber is to bring the community together to honor our local high school seniors for demonstrating character, integrity, love of learning, involvement in school and community activities and/or the ability to overcome challenging life circumstances without compromising their education. The core of the Rising Star of the Month is the student who makes a difference in their home, school & community with sincerity and passion.


Rising Star of the Month Breakfast Sponsors are Vista Chamber of Commerce, Vista Education Foundation, Sunrise Vista Kiwanis Foundation and In Loving Memory of Diane Eckert.

Rising Star of the Month Scholarship Sponsors are Green Team Realty, Tory R. Walker Engineering, Watkins Manufacturing, Cal State San Marcos, Sizzler and Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soap.

All of our Rising Stars of the Month will be invited to complete a scholarship application which is administered by the Vista Chamber of Commerce. A Chamber scholarship committee will judge the applications and select 8-12 students of the year from the pool of Rising Stars. The final scholarship winners will attend the Rising Star of the Year Scholarship and Recognition breakfast on May 8, 2020. The application will be given to the students in early spring with a deadline for completion in early April. The application will request grades, school activities, community service, two short essays, two letter of recommendation and information about where you plan to attend college.
