Firearms/Narcotics Arrest- San Marcos

A man was seen walking near the 700 block of Center Drive in San Marcos and appeared to hide a gun under his clothing. It happened Tuesday, September 14 just after 3:00 p.m. Deputies from the San Marcos Station arrived and attempted to contact the man, but he took off running away from the deputies. Deputies chased the man, but briefly lost sight of him as he turned the corner of a building. Moments later, deputies were able to safely detain the man.

A Sheriff’s certified tracking and article search K-9 searched the immediate area and located a .380 caliber handgun near the same corner of the building where the man had fled.

The man was identified as Matthew Davidson (DOB 04/15/91). He was a convicted felon who was out on bail from a prior arrest. Mr. Davidson was also in possession of methamphetamine and other controlled substances. Mr. Davidson was arrested and booked into the Vista Detention Facility for the following: felon in possession of a firearm, felon committing a crime while on bail, possession of methamphetamine, possession of narcotics/controlled substance, and resisting arrest. Bail has been set at $100,000.
