Featured Art Walk Artists

Jim McAdory spent his early business career traveling to client locations in major U.S. cities and a few not-so-major locations. The opportunity to visit so many places and taste the beauty and uniqueness of each spurred his desire to travel even more. During this time, he had an interest in photography but found film work to be frustratingly time-consuming for his hectic work schedule. The digital revolution changed everything and he discovered he was quickly drawn to the emerging world of digital cameras and PC based photo and video editing software. As his interest grew, he immersed himself in not only learning the technical aspects of photography but also the artistic side and the immediate feedback offered by a digital camera was what he had missed in the days of film. All of his photographs are from trips where his primary reason for being there had little to do with what images he could capture…the photos are simply a way to share beautiful or interesting sights with others.

Sargent Art Group (SAG) is a partnership of professional and emerging artists and patrons of the arts working together to support and encourage one another, as well as to protect the rights of all artists. SAG was founded by Jean McNeil Sargent (aka Jean Braley) whose exuberance for life was an inspiration to many. McNeil is represented in over four hundred public and private collections, and has been recognized by the San Diego State Center of Women’s Studies as one of the four outstanding women artists in San Diego. She passed away in October of 2012 but her passion for art is carried on by several volunteers of SAG who will be participating in the special art exhibit at Oceanside Brooks Theatre during this month’s First Friday Art Walk.
