First Friday ArtWalk Oceanside, May 4th

First Friday Art Walk Oceanside will be held in the multi-venue downtown Oceanside locations on Friday, May 4th from 5:00pm – 9:00pm.

“Art Walk continues to expand its range of local artists, theatre and musicians to help establish Oceanside as the burgeoning cultural arts and entertainment community in North San Diego county. We have also added several new downtown venues recently including Harcourts Sand and Sea, Sunshine Brooks Theatre and School of Hard Locks in Artist Alley,” says Susan Brown, president of the Oceanside Friends of the Arts.

This month, Harcourts, located at 804 Pier View Way, will be featuring a free wine tasting with Cetin Barlas and music by violinist Richard Conviser.

Barlas, who hails from a small village in Turkey, will be offering some of his samples of hand-cut, organic cheeses and meats to pair with a red and white wine. Also, to commemorate Cinco de Mayo weekend, Century 21 located at 501 Mission Avenue will be serving chips and guacamole with complimentary margaritas, and featuring the work of photographer Pete Harwood. Additionally, the Sunshine Brooks Theatre will be offering complimentary champagne in the lobby to kick off the opening of their new play RED, which debuts on May 4th.

Back by popular demand to Art Walk is Mathew Singer(MathewSingerMagic.com), who will be performing four shows of his NeuroMagik: Sleight-of-Mind illusions at “Between The Eyes Theater”(next to Seaside Flowers in Artist Alley). Mathew Singer is a professional, world class Magic Castle Trained Magician, but is also a UCLA neuroscientist. His “Mind Bending Miracles” combine exceptional magic, mentalism and brain science. Mathew will be performing a Kid’s Show at 5:30pm, a Teen Show at 6:30pm and two Adult Shows at 7:30pm and 8:30pm respectively. And be sure to see the exceptional 8-year old Manuela Prante, who will be singing between sets of the Mathew Singer shows.

In conjunction with Art Walk, the Oceanside Museum of Art(OMA), located at 704 Pier View Way, will be featuring the music of Sarah Rogo, a bluesy, soulful songstress with a limited number of reserved tables available for $50 (www.oma-online.org/music). OMA will also be featuring “Pajama Night” for the kids with Children’s stories read by best-selling author Janell Cannon and others.
