The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department wants you to celebrate responsibly this Independence Day by saying no to impaired driving.
Sheriff’s Deputies will be conducting increased impaired driving patrols this holiday weekend and through Tuesday, July 4.
The North Coastal Sheriff’s Station will also be conducting a DUI checkpoint on Friday, June 30 from 7:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location in the City of Encinitas.
So far in 2023, more than 3,300 people have been arrested for driving under the influence in San Diego County. The Sheriff’s Department has made about 500 of those arrests.
Driving under the influence doesn’t just mean alcohol. It also means driving under the influence of prescription drugs or marijuana.
If you do drink, be sure to have a designated driver, ride sharing service or taxi ready.

Remember: Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.
Funding for the Fourth of July weekend impaired driving patrols is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
