Grand Opening Pine Avenue Community Center and Gardens Project

Community members are invited to attend a grand opening celebration for the Pine Avenue Community Center and Gardens Project on Saturday, May 19, at 3209 Harding St. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m., and entertainment, live music, crafts, children’s games, garden demonstrations and tours will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Community Center

The new multi-generational community center’s two story, eco-friendly building features a multi-purpose gymnasium, activity rooms and an outdoor patio and courtyard.

Ornamental and Community Gardens

The gardens feature drought tolerant landscaping, a community gathering plaza with shade structure, public art featuring a willow dome, a picnic and seating areas with a water feature, and a raised planter bed community garden.

The schedule of events in the community center is as follows:

11 a.m. Pickle ball (Pickle ball Q&A)
11:45 a.m. Youth basketball demonstration
12:30 p.m. Volleyball demonstration

Hours for the new community center will be posted following the grand opening.

The Carlsbad Community Gardens Collaborative, a non-profit group, will assist city staff with tasks related to this community garden, as it does with the city’s two other community gardens.
