Groundbreaking For Total Rebuild of Bobier Elementary School in Vista is June 12th

June 5, 2024, Vista, CA – At 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 12th, officials from the Vista Unified School District will host a groundbreaking ceremony at Bobier Elementary School, 220 W. Bobier Dr. in Vista.

The ceremony will kick off a two-year process to demolish the existing campus and build an entirely new, state-of-the-art campus that will serve the broader Vista community.

Funded through the district’s Measure LL Facilities Bond, the new facility will offer over 84,000 square feet of space on nearly ten acres of the school site. In addition to new, modern classrooms and learning spaces the school will see the installation of a combination Library/STEAM lab, a synthetic playfield, new parking lots, and solar arrays with battery backup.

“I am so excited to have a brand new facility for our students, staff, and families. This new facility will set the bar for future improvements across the district,” says Vista Superintendent Dr. Matt Doyle.

Construction is expected to be completed in time for the 2026-27 school year. In the meantime, Bobier students will attend classes at Beaumont Elementary School, which is slated to be decommissioned as part of the district’s consolidation plan.

“It is an exciting time for Bobier,” says Yuleni Prado-Lopez a parent of a Bobier student who also serves as the school’s PTA President and other volunteer roles. “As a parent and community member, this place holds a lot of memories for the generations of families who have attended. We are excited for the future opportunities and the memories that will be made at our new school.”

Completely New Campus & Facilities
As a full rebuild, the Bobier project is the largest of the district’s Measure LL Facilities Bond. The bond has funded improvement and modernization projects at more than a dozen of the district’s schools, including two new buildings at Vista High School, the new Career Technical Education (CTE) building at Rancho Buena Vista High School, ADA and a brand new entrance and gathering spaces at Vista Magnet Middle School.

The projects are part of a broader commitment to upgrade and modernize the learning environments across the district. From updating critical infrastructure to building new buildings and learning spaces, the district is showcasing its vision and leadership.

“With 32 dedicated classrooms, over 84,000 square feet of internal space, and nearly 10,000 square feet of interior courtyard-covered space, the new Bobier Elementary School exemplifies why Vista Unified School District is nationally recognized for excellence and innovation in education,” says Chief Operations Office Dr. Shawn Loescher. “This new learning environment sets our new standards for the types of spaces that our students, teachers, staff, and community deserve.”
