CHICO, Calif. – After placing second in the West Texas A&M Desert Invitational in Phoenix, Arizona, Cal State San Marcos women’s golf’s Claire Hogle has nabbed the final California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Golfer of the Week award for the 2018-19 season.
Hogle was one of three CSUSM golfers to place in the top 10. Her scores of 72-73 led the way for the newly-ranked No. 3 Cougars as they tied on top with No. 10 Grand Valley State. Hogle moved up in the individual rankings to No. 15 on Golfstat.
Five CSUSM women’s golfers have been named CCAA Golfer of the Week for the 2018-19 season. Junior Jaime Jacob collected the honor three times while seniors Sarah Garcia and Bergen Benedict along with freshman Breann Horn got the nod once. CSUSM has earned seven of the 12 awards given this season.
Hogle and the defending conference champions will be hosting the 2018-19 CCAA Women’s Golf Championships at Morgan Run Club in Rancho Santa Fe on April 15-17. The Cougars won the school’s first-ever CCAA team title last year, and Jacob also made history by becoming CSUSM’s first individual champion.
