Homicide Investigation – Update #2 Fallbrook

LOCATION: 400 Block of S. Ridge Drive, Fallbrook

DECEASED: Robert Berry Pierce, 56-years-old

SUSPECT: Nicholas Burg, 29-years-old

The victim has been identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office as fifty-six-year-old Robert Berry Pierce (Also known as Bobby Berry Pierce). The next of kin has been notified.

Sheriff’s Homicide detectives continued their investigation and identified twenty-nine-year-old Nicolas Burg as the suspect in the murder. Last night, Sheriff’s Homicide detectives arrested Burg in Murrieta, California. Burg was booked into Vista Detention Facility for one count of 187(a) PC – Murder. Burg is a resident of Fallbrook and lives at the property where the body was found.

Detectives and the Medical Examiner’s Office are continuing to work to positively identify the decedent and notify the next of kin

Information from first release:

On July 14, 2021, Sheriff’s deputies were investigating a suspicious circumstance. Deputies located a body buried on a property in the 400 block of South Ridge Drive in Fallbrook. The Sheriff’s Homicide Unit responded and assumed responsibility of the investigation. The body of an adult male was exhumed and received by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Medical Examiner’s Office conducted the autopsy today and is attempting to determine the identity of the male. The preliminary cause of death is being withheld. The manner of death is homicide.
