Woman deceased after altercation

The following information is fragmentary and has not been completely verified. It is based, in part, on hearsay and is intended for early information use rather than being a formal investigative report.
On October 12, 2022, just before 8:00 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to a radio call of an altercation in the 1200 block of South Santa Fe Avenue, Vista. Deputies along with the Fire Department and paramedics arrived on scene and located a 30–35-year-old female with signs of trauma to her upper torso. The victim was transported to a local area hospital for further treatment. While at the hospital the victim’s health continued to decline and she was pronounced deceased.
The Sheriff’s Homicide Unit responded and has assumed responsibility of the investigation. The circumstances and motivations are under investigation. The identity of the victim is not known at this time. A 40-45-year-old male was seen with the victim during the altercation. It is unknown his level of involvement at this time.
