SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The RV Cal State San Marcos women’s basketball team (3-2) collected its third consecutive win with an 80-54 victory over Saint Martin’s (2-4) on Friday night in The Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cougars wasted no time, jumping out to a 24-10 lead in the first quarter behind a 53.3 field-goal percentage (8-of-15) while holding the Saints to just 25.0% (4-of-16).
CSUSM took its largest lead of the first half in the second quarter on a Mastora layup that made it 28-10 at the 8:37 mark.
The Cougars took a 41-28 lead into the locker room.
CSUSM shot 55.2% (16-of-29) from the field while SMU turned in a 32.3% (10-of-31) performance.
The Saints cut CSUSM’s lead to single digits at 41-33 at 9:31 in the third quarter on an Anjel Galbrath fast-break layup.
The Cougars answered with a 10-0 run that included two 3-pointers by Tameilau and Mastora.
CSUSM tallied its highest field-goal percentage of the night in the third quarter after shooting 10-of-17 (58.8%).
The Cougars extended their lead to a game-high 31 points (80-49) on a Natalie Nicolosi 3-pointer with 2:25 remaining in the game.
FAST BREAKS
CSUSM shot a season-high 53.4% (31-of-58) for the game while holding SMU to 29.5% (18-of-61).
The Cougars tallied nine 3-pointers in the contest, shooting 50.0% from behind the arc.
For the second consecutive game, San Marcos led wire-to-wire, never trailing in the game.
Vasquez earned her third double-double of the season (20 pts, 10 reb.) and the 29th of her collegiate career.
Gallegos recorded a season-high six assists in the game.
Four Cougars registered double digits in scoring – Vasquez (20), Ranson (11), Tameilau (10) and Mastora (10).
