How The County Public Health Order Affects Village Eateries

Since the 4th of July weekend San Diego County has been on the monitoring “watchlist” due to high numbers in confirmed COVID-19 cases. And even though Carlsbad has done an excellent job at flattening the curve, and has some of the lowest numbers to report, being part of San Diego County means that it faced a rollback. What does that mean to the over 75 eateries in Carlsbad Village? Until we are off the monitoring “watchlist,” all inside restaurant dining has had to stop. And bars, tasting rooms, and wineries that don’t serve food must remain entirely closed. Some tasting rooms have partnered with local restaurants and are now also serving food thus allowing them to open per the new guidelines.

Because business as we know it has largely moved outside, patio dining reigns supreme! And curbside pickup, takeout, and delivery are still alive and well. And with the city’s private parking lot and sidewalk activation options, dining al fresco is expanding to make safely supporting our Village restaurants even easier. Thank you for wearing a mask and for helping our amazing eateries thrive. For a list of dining establishments open for business and the services they provide, visit our dining page here.
