Students across our community rely on our food pantries for sustenance during the school day and many also use our pantries to supplement food shortages at home. With the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent school closures, students are unable to access these resources, adding to an already precarious situation.
Vista Teen Outreach (VTO) wants to continue to ensure that no student in our community is going hungry, even while schools remain closed. To do so, we have committed to providing the school district with 200 supplemental food bags that will be distributed to families on a weekly basis.
This is an unprecedented surge in our work to match an unprecedented need in our community. In a typical month VTO spends $1,000 to stock our pantries. We are now spending $1,000 a WEEK for the unforeseeable future. These increased costs will deplete our yearly budget and reserves. We are humbly asking for donations to help us continue to do our important work.
We understand that this is a difficult time for many families, so do not feel pressured, but if everyone pitches in just a little we can make sure that our community continues to thrive! With just $15 we can help provide food for one family for one week. We couldn’t do it without you! Thank you.
