Pizza Port has been part of San Diego beer since before most people knew what “craft beer” meant.
Co-founder, CEO, and President Gina Marsaglia joins Jeff, Jeff, and San Diego Brewers Guild President Esthela Davila to tell the Pizza Port origin story. It all started from taking over a struggling little pizza shop in Solana Beach, to experimenting with beer fermentation in repurposed Hot Dog on a Stick lemonade containers, and eventually building one of the most influential brewery families in San Diego.
The crew talks about Pizza Port’s first beer, Shark Bite Red, the evolution of Swami’s, the philosophy behind keeping guest beers on tap, and the long list of brewers who got their start at Pizza Port before going on to make their mark elsewhere.
Gina also looks ahead to Pizza Port Solana Beach’s 40th anniversary, including plans to bring former brewers back together for what sounds a lot like one massive family reunion.
