Important April Dates to Remember and Celebrate

The month of April is filled with some significant dates important to Jewish and Christian religious beliefs and an important date for some hard-working members of numerous businesses throughout the United States. The dates to mark on your calendars include:
Sat. April 12 – Passover Begins – The major Jewish holiday is also one of the three Pilgrimage Festivals. This celebrates the Exodus of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt.
The Holy Week
Sun. April 13 – Palm Sunday – The solemn Christian feast falls on the Sunday before Easter commemorating Christs triumphant entry into Jerusalem. It marks the first day of Holy Week in Western Christianity, beginning the last day of lent.
Wed. April 15 – Spy Wednesday – The day Judas was convinced by the Romans to betray Jesus.
Thurs. April 16 – Maundy Thursday – Commemorates Jesus washing the disciples’ feet at the Last Supper and Judas’s betrayal of Jesus.
Fri. April 18 – Good Friday – This day is also referred to as Black Friday or Holy Friday. The holy day commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary.
Sun. April 20 – Easter – This is the culmination of the Passion of Jesus, preceded by Lent – a 40-day period of fasting, prayer and penance. This day commemorates the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. It is described in the Bible as actually occurring on the 3rd day of his burial following his crucifixion by the Romans, said to have been in 30 AD.
Significant Business Commemoration Day
Wed. April 23 – Administrative Professional Day – This is a day of recognition of the secretaries, administrative assistants, and all others in the work force recognizing the hard work and dedication they bring to the businesses they are affiliated with.
