SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The awards keep coming for Cal State San Marcos women’s golf’s Jaime Jacob as the senior collected another pair of titles on the course to earn back-to-back status as the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Golfer of the Week.
Her collection of weekly distinctions has now bloomed to 13 over the course of the last three seasons since women’s golf became a conference sponsored sport.
This week, she carded her lowest two-round total this season, wrapping up the CSUSM Fujikura Invitational with a 68-69-137 (-7) as the women played all 36 on Monday to avoid incoming weather. Jacob collected nine birdies to go along with 25 pars to ease to the top of the leaderboard for a seven-stroke victory over teammate Savannah Magallon.
Four of Jacob’s seven birdies came in the final round, and in fact the final seven holes of the event, as she led the Cougars to the 38-stroke team victory. The Cougars closed with a team score of 2-over 578 with Academy of Art second at 40-over 616.
Next, the Cougars travel north to compete in Holy Name’s Mikuni Sushi Shootout on March 16-17 at Catta Verdera Country Club in Lincoln.
