As many of you are aware, the San Marcos fireworks show was unexpectedly cancelled due to pyrotechnic difficulties on July 4. While City staff is still looking into the fireworks failure, we received confirmation from our long-standing fireworks vendor that there was a malfunction of the firing system. The system was testing fine leading up to the show, however, when it was time to arm the board, it malfunctioned. Ultimately, the safety of our community was of highest importance.
While we greatly apologize for this inconvenience, we appreciate the community’s understanding that safety always comes first. We will continue to work with staff to determine what remedial steps may be taken to potentially celebrate with the community at a later date. Thank you for your patience. We will communicate with the community when we have more information about any future fireworks events.
