Performances will be March 11 – 20, 2022; Thursday, Friday, Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the Howard Brubeck Theatre. Little Shop of Horrors! Is a deviously, delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical, Little Shop of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theatre-goers for over 30 years. Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty and The Beast, and Aladdin) are the creative geniuses behind what has become one of the most popular shows in the world. The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” – after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down and out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it, BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s out of this world origins and intent towards global domination!
Director Kathy Brombacher said, “Little Shop of Horrors is a feast of music and comedy for Palomar’s theatre audiences. The show is a real escape from our months of quarantine as it satirizes science fiction “B” movies, Du-Wop and Motown groups of the ‘60’s, alien plants from another planet, a sadistic dentist and a sweet anti-hero who faces enormous temptations of Hollywood and his “fallen” girlfriend Audrey. The spirit of fun, the clever music and lyrics allow us to escape to a simpler world with a trio of sassy urchin “narrators” who dance their way into our hearts.”
She went on to say, “In this production, we see every iteration of the monster from the initial wilting seedling to a monstrous life-size terror. This production will also have amazing choreography, lighting, sound, scenery, and a live full-size orchestra.”
