The Vista Civic Center Gallery is proud to announce “55”, a solo exhibition by multimedia artist Kelly Clark, opening February 2nd and running through February 27, 2026. This exhibition showcases new photographs and paintings from Ms. Clark’s artist residency in Italy, as well as other multi-media pieces encompassing flora, fauna, and abstracts.
Her landscape photographs from Italy have a melancholic timelessness, revealing the texture of hundreds of years of history. Many have a painterly quality, adding to the nostalgia. Ms. Clark accompanies this photographic work with several painted pieces created during or inspired by her residency in the small Umbrian town of Corciano, Italy. Her studio overlooked the 13th-century Castello di Pieve del Vescovo, which was once the summer residence of Pope Leo XIII. From her base in the state of Perugia, Ms. Clark would explore and photograph the beautiful ancient towns of Perugia, Assisi and Montefalco. Each photograph and painting in this exhibit includes music you can hear by clicking the QR code label for an interactive experience.
Kelly Clark is a California-based visual artist with two decades of experience as an educator, working primarily in photography and painting. She currently serves as the Photography Teacher and CTE Department Chair at Rancho Buena Vista High School in Vista. She holds an MA in Art Education and a BFA in Photography with a concentration in painting.
Clark has exhibited her work in galleries and museums, including The Castle Gallery in upstate New York and locally at The Photographer’s Eye in Escondido. Kelly maintains a studio at Art Hatch in Escondido and a member of FIG (the Feminist Imaging Group) in San Diego
.
The Vista Civic Center Gallery is located on the second floor of the Vista Civic Center and is open Monday- Friday, 7:30- 5:30, and on alternate Fridays, 7:30- 4:30. There will be a reception for the artist on Thursday, February 12th, from 4- 6 pm, which is free and open to the public.
