A true miracle happened last weekend at Alta Vista Botanical Gardens. A large group of over 200 kind, hard working and very giving Church volunteers from the North Coast Church descended upon our Gardens and transformed them. The church members took on multiple tasks of weeding 14 acres, spreading mulch, building a beautiful new permanent entry kiosk, installing steps on a steep slope and cleaning the Garden House from top to bottom. This wonderful group of volunteers transformed our Botanical Gardens, which had lots of weeds all over the 14 acres caused by the winter rains, into a very attractive and well manicured place for all to enjoy.
The weekend plans involved many different areas and was very well organized. Thanks go out to the North Coast Church members Terry Woods and Kelcey Sass for the many hours they put into reviewing what Alta Vista Botanical Gardens needs were and how to execute them. Scheduling 200 people on two shifts each day was no easy feat as well. Both these men spent two long days making sure all the volunteers were on task so all went smoothly. The Church members that volunteered included craftsmen, landscapers, builders, truckers, tractor drivers, equipment handlers, worker bees, painters and families with children of all ages. They came with tools, donated supplies, paint and most of all smiles on their faces. Thanks go out to Edco Sanitation Services for supplying two large green waste containers, Agri Services Inc. for supplying oodles of mulch and Sunrise Materials Inc. that supplied Decomposed Granite for our trails.
It certainly was an amazing service weekend, abounding with hard work, brotherhood and devotion to doing good deeds for the community.
With much appreciation,
Naomi Stein,
