The Latino American Political Association (LAPA) invited the public to attend a Candidate Forum at the Rancho Grande el Toro (825 Williamston St.) Restaurant on Wednesday, July 31st. Many Vista residents attended. Candidates running for Vista City Council, Vista School Board and Tri-City Hospital Board were invited to participate. The purpose of the forum is to provide an opportunity for members of LAPA and the community to learn about a candidate’s municipal governance philosophy and render an endorsement. All candidates running for these offices have been invited to participate. This report is only covering the City Council Candidates. Next week we will report on the School Board Trustees and Tri City Hospital Trustees.

The City is divided into four (4) geographic sections. Voters will vote only for the Council seat up for election in their specific district. The mayor is elected at-large by the voters of Vista.
